Satellite positioning corrected by a fixed reference station in your garden, which gives centimetre accuracy. It needs sky: the station and the machine both do, and a mature canopy is where the approach struggles. This machine states a visual fallback for exactly that.
More than they sound. The single most effective thing you can do for a lawn is raise the height in a drought and lower it in the spring flush, and a machine adjusted in centimetres does that precisely rather than in jumps.
That is the maker’s claim about its own trained model, and this page reports it as one. There is no defined test for obstacle recognition, no stated conditions and no published rate.
