The bottom line The only listing here that states the rollers change without tools and that the machine may be run without the bag at all — which on a badly thatched lawn is the faster way to work, raking afterwards. 40 cm, 2000 W, twenty steel blades or twenty-four sprung steel tines, and the depth scale published.
An efficient 2-in-1 solution for scarifying and aerating, with an ergonomic handle and a comfortable switch. Two rollers are included — a scarifying roller with 20 steel blades and an aerating roller with 24 sprung steel tines — and they are changed without tools. The 2000 W motor is stated to give powerful scarifying, the housing is described as durable, and a cable strain relief holds the cable. The working width is 40 cm with central depth adjustment from +6 to −12 mm for different lawn types. A large 55-litre bag is supplied, and the maker states the machine can be used without the collector without any problem.
Tool-free roller change. On a 2-in-1 machine that is the difference between owning two machines and owning one with a spare part in the shed.
Usable without the bag. On a lawn with genuine thatch, the bag fills in minutes and the operation becomes a sequence of walks to the heap. Running bagless and clearing afterwards — with a rake, or with a mower and its own catcher — is usually faster, and this is the only listing that says the machine allows it.
+6 to −12 mm with zero at the ground. Above zero it combs, below zero it cuts.
Four of nine listings here give this range and five do not, and it is the single setting that decides whether an afternoon’s work does anything.

Because on a lawn with real thatch the bag fills every minute or two, and the stopping is most of the time. Running bagless throws the material onto the surface to be raked or mown up afterwards, which on a first scarification is usually quicker overall.
It is the difference between using both cartridges and using the one that is fitted. A change that needs a spanner and ten minutes gets done once; a change that takes seconds gets done when the lawn needs it.
Blades, if there is thatch: they cut down through the layer. Tines afterwards or instead, on a lawn that is matted rather than thatched. Doing the sprung pass on a lawn with a real thatch layer achieves very little.
