A robust motorless mower for lawns up to 150 m², allowing quiet mowing without electricity or fuel. The ball-bearing cutting cylinder carries five steel blades at a 30 cm cutting width. The cutting height adjusts in four steps from 13 to 37 mm. A 45 mm plastic roller and the wheels give even guidance. The 16-litre grass box is removable and easy to empty. A roller behind the cylinder carries weight, which does two things. It steadies the machine over ground that is not perfectly flat, so the cylinder holds its height instead of dipping into every hollow and scalping every rise. And it lays the cut grass over in the direction of travel, which is where a striped lawn comes from.
Plastic at 45 mm is a light roller. A heavy steel one does more of both, and costs more and weighs more.

That is a fine-turf height and it belongs on a fine-turf lawn: level, fed, watered and cut two or three times a week. Applied to an ordinary mixed lawn it takes most of the leaf off and opens the sward to whatever moves in.
A way of standing the machine upright and stable for storage, rather than leaning it against a wall where it falls over. On a shelf where the machines are light and awkwardly shaped, it is a genuinely useful thing to have designed in.

It rides behind the cylinder and carries part of the machine’s weight, which steadies the cut over slight unevenness and lays the grass over in one direction — the stripe. A mower without one follows the ground more closely and scalps high spots more readily.
On a fine, level, frequently cut lawn, yes, and that is exactly the lawn a cylinder mower belongs on. On an ordinary domestic lawn it scalps every high spot and removes the leaf the grass feeds itself with.
Neither. That is the whole proposition: no charging, no stale petrol, no cable, no noise figure to worry about, and nothing to service but the blades.
