Two listings, one set of claims
This product and another 10 kg sack on this shelf share, on everything published:
The same title — word for word, including the identical coverage claim.
The same five feature lines — word for word, in the same order, with the same
emoji markers and the same rate figures.
The same price, in all four of the markets where both are priced.
Barcodes with the same GS1 company prefix.
This page states those as observations. It does not draw a conclusion about who
makes what, and nothing in either listing would support one.
What follows for a buyer, which is the useful part
Reading both listings does not give you two opinions about grass seed. It gives
you one set of claims twice.
So there is nothing to weigh. Availability and delivery are the only differences
anybody can act on, and on the recorded prices there is not even a saving.
A site that presented these as two independent options on a shortlist would be
padding a comparison. This page exists to say so.
25 to 30 g/m², stated rather than derived, over 300 to 400 m² from 10 kg.
A range is the right form, because the correct rate depends on where the seed
lands.
Bare soil: the top end. Nothing competes, every seed has a chance, and a dense
sowing closes the ground before weeds arrive.
Existing turf: the bottom end or less, because most of the seed will land on
grass blades and in the thatch layer rather than on soil, and seed that does not
touch soil does not germinate — whatever the rate. What changes that is
scarifying first.
On a 10 kg sack the difference between the ends of the range is a hundred square
metres of lawn.
4.40 € per kilo
Joint cheapest on this shelf, where the range runs up to 15.87 € — a factor of
3.6.
The ordering follows pack size almost perfectly: 0.75 kg at 15.87, 1 kg at 12.70,
2.6 kg at 8.84, 5 kg at 5.78, and the two 10 kg sacks at 4.40.
Per square metre the same ordering gives 0.11 € here against 0.40 € at the
top.
And the caveat that comes with a big sack
Seed loses germination in storage.
Cool and dry, it holds up for a year or two, then declines. Opened, in a shed,
through two summers, it declines faster.
Ten kilograms at 25 to 30 g/m² covers 300 to 400 square metres. On an 80 m²
lawn that is four years of overseeding, and the fourth year’s seed is not what was
bought.
So the cheap kilo is only cheap if it gets sown. For a new lawn or a large garden
this is clearly the right size. For a patch by the gate, the 0.75 kg bag on this
shelf is dearer per gram and far cheaper in total.
Ten degrees, and April to September
Both published, and between them they are the most complete sowing guidance in
this family.
10 °C soil temperature is the real gate; two other bags on this shelf agree and
a third says 8 °C. Below it, seed does not germinate — it waits in cold wet
ground where birds find it and damp rots it.
April to September excludes the month that is usually too cold and the month
that is warm enough to sprout but not to establish before frost.
For anybody without a soil thermometer: when the lawn starts growing and needs its
first cut, it is warm enough.
What goes unpublished
The species mix.
Six of the seven products on this shelf omit it, including both of these two
sacks. “A proven premium mixture of grass varieties” names nothing at all.
For a mix sold for sport and play, the expected composition is
ryegrass-dominant — it is the grass that survives being walked on — with meadow
grass to knit the sward together over a season or two.
One bag on this shelf publishes exactly that: 90 % perennial ryegrass, 10 %
smooth-stalked meadow grass. It is the only page in this family where the claims
on the packet can be checked against the contents, and it is a third of the weight
at three and a half times the price per kilo.

Listed and unsold: the British Amazon catalogue holds the reference with nobody behind it.
