What the maker prints on its own page
A replacement blade described as a fitting accessory and spare part for the
maker’s cordless mowers with a 43 cm cutting width. Blunt or damaged blades can
simply be exchanged for it. It is specifically suitable for two named machines.
The blade is 43 cm long, made of robust steel, with two precise, sharply ground
cutting edges.
Sold by machine, not by measurement
Two names, and nothing else. No bore diameter, no fixing arrangement, no
thickness.
That is the correct way to sell an original part and it makes this the lowest-
risk purchase on the shelf: if your mower is one of the two, this blade fits.
It also makes the listing useless to anybody else, and it is the opposite of
how the aftermarket listings on this shelf are written — those give the
millimetres and let you check.
What a blade actually does
Two jobs, and the edge is the smaller one.
It cuts, which takes very little from a sharp edge. And it moves air: the
upturned tail behind each edge is a fan blade, and the airflow it makes stands
the grass up before the edge arrives and carries the clippings into the
catcher.
That wing is why a worn blade cannot be fixed by sharpening, and no listing on
this shelf mentions it.
When to replace rather than sharpen
When the lift wing has thinned — sand and grit erode it over seasons and no
grinding restores it. When a stone has left a notch deeper than can be ground
out. When the centre hole has elongated and the blade no longer sits
concentric. When there is a crack anywhere.
Until then, sharpening is cheaper and just as good — with a balance check
afterwards, because metal taken off one end and not the other makes a
vibration the whole machine absorbs.
