A set containing 150 m of boundary wire, 200 ground pegs, 20 cable connectors
and 10 terminal clamps, described as a comprehensive kit for delimiting the
area to be mown precisely, safely and efficiently.
The wire is tinned, copper-plated aluminium, stated as durable, conductive and
tear-resistant, with weather-resistant construction against rain, snow and
strong sunlight. Universal compatibility with named brands, offered as a
replacement or an upgrade for existing original cable. The wire has 24 strands
at 2.7 mm diameter for stable signal transmission. It is easy to lay and fix
with the anchors and connectors, and the spool gives even unrolling.
200 pegs
The number that makes this kit worth its price.
Every other set on this shelf supplies between forty and fifty pegs for a
hundred metres. That is one every two metres or more, and a boundary wire pegged
at that spacing lifts between the pegs until the grass grows through it — which
takes weeks, during which the loop is exactly what a mower, a fork or a boot
catches.
The right density is roughly one peg a metre on straight runs and closer at
corners. 200 for 150 m is the only kit here that supplies it.
Twenty connectors
Two close the loop at the dock. The rest are for spurs, for a second zone, and
for the repairs the installation will need.
A boundary wire’s life is punctuated by breaks. Supplying the means to fix them
in the original box is a realistic view of what this product actually is.
The conductor
24 strands of tinned copper-plated aluminium at 2.7 mm.
Stranded rather than solid, which survives being walked on and bent. Copper-clad
aluminium rather than copper, which is lighter and cheaper and less conductive
at the same section.
On 150 metres that difference is real and nobody on this shelf publishes the
figure that would let it be measured.
The price
The highest on this shelf, and most of the difference is the 150 extra pegs and
the 20 connectors. Against buying a bare reel and then two more orders for
fixings, it is not obviously expensive.
